Studio Policies

*Lessons begin as a 6-month trial period. Please be aware that if I don’t feel the student is progressing or showing an interest in the material, I may drop him/her at any time.

*There will be 3 private lessons and one group lesson per month. There will be a schedule for each semester. Private lessons are in 1/2 hour increments and the group classes are 1 to 1 1/2 hours in length. Each student will be assigned to a group class. They will have the option of switching group lessons for the week if they have a conflict as long as they inform me ahead of time by email, since I would like to try to limit the size of the group class to 6.

*Tuition is $80/month and is due at the beginning of each month. Any other payment arrangements must be discussed. There will be a $5 late fee per week that the tuition is late. Please pay by check!! There will be a fee for any bounced checks (whatever my bank charges me).

*Private lessons may be rescheduled up to 6 hours before the appointed lesson time approaches. Last minute cancellations within reason (accident, death, or other major catastrophe) may also be rescheduled. Please communicate with me if there is any reason you may need to miss a lesson. I do not refund no-shows. If for some reason we cannot reschedule because I am unavailable, I will credit you $20 towards the following month's tuition. Please notify me by phone the day of the lesson if you need to miss. Contact me if you do not have my phone number. For rescheduling, please email me. That is the safest way to make sure you are on my calendar!

*Group lessons are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. This is an opportunity for each student to perform! Each student should be prepared to sing something a capella or with an accompaniment CD. Each group lesson will consist of exercises, sight-singing, ear training and performing.

*Students are encouraged to take notes or bring recording devices to record their lessons, if I don’t have one available. They are encouraged to practice with the recording.

*Purchasing music is to be expected when studying voice. I will make copies for my students for learning purposes, or until the music is purchased. It is the responsibility of the student to interpret copyright laws. It is a good idea to purchase music every time the student learns a new song in order to start building his/her music library.

*There may be a small fee for recitals or performances. This fee goes directly to the accompanist or rental of equipment/performance space.

*Be prepared! Please put together a folder or notebook of music for your lessons. I encourage students to make notes in their music and many people prefer to do so on a Xerox copy. In addition, I may want to give notes or pictures to help students understand certain concepts.

*I will not tolerate misbehavior. Depending on the serious nature of the behavior, I will give one warning and then drop the student if the behavior continues.

Schedule Change

Private lessons will be held final week of November. In order to prepare for the upcoming performance, I would like to have lessons the last week of November, which originally we were going to have off for Thanksgiving. That makes a total of four private lessons, totaling $80 for those of you who have no credits.

In addition, I've added one more group class in December so that we can watch and evaluate our performance as well as look at new material and play music games!

Upcoming Performance at Friendship Village

Our performance is coming swiftly upon us. I will have a pianist come to my studio to record all of the accompaniment tracks for the performance. On the upside, this will mean you will be able to have your accompaniment to practice with and use after the performance. On the downside, I am asking everyone to contribute $5 towards hiring the pianist. Please bring me your money at your next lesson/class.

NATS Auditions—Nov. 21^st and 22^nd (approx. $50 total) High School Students Only.

Friendship Village Performance—Dec. 6 at 2pm--For Everyone!!

Visitors’ Center Performance—Dec. 22^nd, 7pm—Come and see me and my sisters (Voices One) give a ½ hour concert at the LDS Temple Visitors’ Center in Mesa.
